TVI DVRs - HD over Analog Cables

To the best of our knowledge, none of our devices appear to have any major cyber security concerns, however please always follow our cyber security best practices. As long as products or components are not discontinued, we will attempt to carry these older models until 2020, as to not strand customers who purchased previously.

On Aug 1, 2018, the US government passed a resolution, effective Aug 1, 2019, to prevent the federal government, and anyone else who is involved with national security, from making purchases of surveillance cameras originally manufactured in 4 specific factories in China, including the one we used from 2014 to 2017.

This ban also affects some or all Honeywell, Hikvision, Dahua, Lorex, Swann, LTS, Annke, Alibi, Laview, WBox, Interlogic, Flir, Bosch, ICRealtime, QSee, Panasonic, ADT, and Indigo Vision cameras for federal government use.

The government did not provide an explanation for the ban. This ban affects federal projects. Vermont has also banned these products for state government purchases.

Please use our new Admiral and Imperial IP camera and NVR lines, if you are shopping for a federal building or program, as our 2018 models are not affected by this federal use ban.

TVI is a HD over BNC cable solution (the cable used by old CCTV systems). TVI recorders (TVI DVRS) are Backward Compatible with Analog Cameras - if you plug an analog camera into a TVI recorder it will record in analog. TVI is perfect for upgrading to HD if you have already run BNC cable, but will not replace IP cameras as the dominant cameras of the future.

TVI recorders can accept signal from TVI cameras (SCW, Samsung, TVT, and Hikvision make TVI cameras) or Analog cameras. TVI is a transitional technology to help people with already existing cable get higher resolutions. All new installations should use IP cameras and NVRs as IP can already do 5x the resolution as TVI and IP cameras are significantly easier to install.
