When Would I Use Motion Sensors, Glass Break Sensors, vs. Windows Open Sensors?

Glass Break vs. Window Open Sensors

Not every thief enters through the front door, but sometimes a motion sensor isn't the right fit. You probably don't want to get a motion alert if you get up in the night to go to the bathroom, for example.

Can you open the window?

Yes

If the window opens, a Window Sensor will let you know if someone has opened up the window.

Someone can still break the glass in the window, so you may still want a glass break sensor.

No

If you can't open the window, you probably just want a glass break sensor.

Motion Sensors and Windows

Most alarm systems have at least one motion sensor, usually in the main part of the house. This means that if a burglar wants to leave out your front door you'll get a motion alert.

You may also want to put motion sensors in other parts of your home, such as your garage, basement, family room, or living room.
