How Wayne Farms Covered Four Facilities With 124 Cameras

Wayne Farms’ outdated camera systems were causing more problems than they solved. SCW designed and installed a turnkey, 124-camera system across a processing plant, two feedlots, and a hatchery, on a dedicated network.

01 · The Problem

The Problem

Wayne Farms LLC is the seventh-largest vertically integrated poultry producer in the US, with annual sales exceeding $2 billion. A subsidiary of Continental Grain Company, it produces more than 2.6 billion pounds of poultry products each year and employs more than 9,000 people.

Its outdated camera systems were causing more problems than they solved. Wayne Farms needed a complete overhaul, not just an upgrade.

Technical Support Admin Kenny Vass was tasked with finding a reliable, local security partner to design and install a new system from the ground up across four facilities: a processing plant, two feedlots, and a hatchery.

SCW was chosen for its track record in delivering the setup and network infrastructure a camera network of this size requires, and worked with Kenny on network design throughout the project.

02 · The Solution

The Solution

A simple upgrade wouldn’t deliver what Wayne Farms needed. Instead, SCW designed and installed a comprehensive surveillance system covering all of Wayne Farms’ facilities.

The turnkey solution, totaling over $225,000, had to provide comprehensive surveillance without taxing the existing network.

03 · The Result

The Result

The system covers Wayne Farms’ process monitoring needs and delivers complete coverage of all four facilities.

Though complex in design, the system is easy to use, with all 124 cameras across four buildings on the same viewing platform. A dedicated camera network means the new IP cameras don’t tax the existing network, Kenny’s main concern from the start.

Working with a local company built a strong relationship that has continued through additional jobs, from system additions to setup adjustments.
