Active Deterrence Cameras: Lights and Sound to Alert Intruders
An Active Deterrence Camera is an IP camera that has either a speaker or a light to deter intruders from committing a crime, to let passerby's know of a potential life-safety issue (such as deep water or high voltage), or just to let people know what you want them to do (such as "No Parking!").
Why Active Deterrence?
For years, cameras have been a passive deterrent for crime - someone who might be there to commit a crime, might see the camera and this might make them not want to commit that crime.
Active deterrence is a way that the industry has reconsidered how cameras can be used to reduce crime. Some models have speakers that give loud alerts or play pre-recorded audio messages that inform the person that they are being monitored. Others have flashing lights. This is meant to make it clear to intruders that they are being monitored and recorded.
The idea that is that making the camera more obvious, it will reduce more crime.
Types of Lights
Some of our models have white light and others have red and blue lights. There's no real security difference, this is mostly just ascetics.
Audio Alert Messages
The alerts can vary from safety alerts like "Danger: deep water," to more intrusion based alerts like "Please be aware, you are being recorded," to more operation alerts like "No Parking."
The Deputy 8.0 v4 and Lookout Mini 5.0 have these audio options:
1. You are in the alert area, please leave!
2. You are in the danger zone, do not approach!
3. Please be aware! You are in a monitored area!
4. No parking! Please leave!
5. Important place! Please leave!
6. Private area! Do not enter!
7. Danger! Deep water!
8. Danger! Do not climb!
9. Welcome!
10. Warning!
11. The area is crowded! Please leave!
12. Please stop! No more people allowed!
The Paladin and Warrior 8.0 v3 have these audio options:
